Course MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
JOURNEY SO FAR WITH THE OSAIDE FOUNDATION
I remember vividly how I heard about this scholarship – my then Head of Department, Professor Aliu called and said he had nominated me for a scholarship, and I also recall not wanting to take
part in it because in my first two years of being an engineering student, I had partaken in so many scholarship screening exercises and none went in my favor. I had already put it out there that
scholarships were not for me and that I was just meant to focus on school. Out of pure respect for Professor Aliu, I decided to attempt the exercise and even after the exam, I still didn’t make it to
the next stage. I recall laughing at myself that day, muttering to myself ‘I told you scholarships were not for you’ over and over again and of course trying to hold back my disappointment by
communicating with my friends only to be called and then blessed with this scholarship in a way that only God saw coming cause I definitely did not expect it. This proved what my mother always
said at home, ‘when it is time for God to bless and favor his children, he does it in a way that we would least expect’.On getting the scholarship, I was not even allowed to be happy and enjoy the moment due to the many angry texts I got about not deserving it, some said I knew the organizers before the exam and some even said in played the pity card with my late dad. Honestly all these didn’t make me
even feel the joy of getting such a rare opportunity but notwithstanding, I shared my testimony with the church and was determined to not let the people that had given me this opportunity down.
With the funds, I bought some tools for my mechanic work and I finally had my first laptop that made reading a lot less stressful for me due to my eye condition and I can definitely say that
OSAIDE SCHOLARSHIP FOR GIRLS has been such a blessing to me and my family and I am so grateful for every bit of it. I am now in my final semester in UNIBEN studying MECHANICAL
ENGINNERING and I promise to do my best to make the foundation proud. Thank you so much for believing in me, I do not take this for granted.
