JOURNEY SO FAR WITH THE OSAIDE FOUNDATION.
I am NOW a graduate of Civil Engineering from the University of Benin. I became a recipient of the Osaide for Girls Scholarship in 2020. On the evening of February 14th 2020, I and other recipients were honoured to meet Engr. Dr. Patricia Nekpen Opene-Odili, the founder of the remarkable Osaide Foundation. I also encountered a league of exceptionally intelligent women who left an indelible mark on me. In that moment, I made a silent pledge to myself – to radiate distinction and stand out, drawing inspiration from the luminosity of those remarkable women. I received the first scholarship that evening, and I will always be grateful for the love shown to me and my fellow recipients by the foundation from that day till now. This newfound freedom allowed me to explore my academic interests without the constant worry of how to fund my education.
Embarking on this journey, I found myself on a trajectory that surpassed mere academic pursuits; it was an exploration of possibilities, an evolution of self, and an unwavering commitment to shaping a future filled with promise and purpose. This gesture was more than monetary assistance; it was an investment in dreams and aspirations, a belief that education has the power to transform lives.
The Osaide Foundation has played an instrumental role in shaping me educationally and professionally, providing me with invaluable opportunities that have paved the way for a promising future. I am grateful to be a part of the Osaide family. Their generous support alleviated the financial burden of pursuing higher education and the foundation's commitment to fostering education as a means of empowerment has profoundly influenced my life. Currently, I am working and I have also gotten admission offers into the prestigious Georgia State University and the University of Georgia to obtain a masters degree, and I could not help but brag in my statement of purpose during the application process that I was a beneficiary of the Osaide for Girls scholarship. The Osaide Foundation's teachings of staying focused has equipped me with the skills and resilience needed to strike a balance in the world.
In conclusion, my journey with the Osaide Foundation has been a transformative odyssey, marked by support, guidance, and opportunities that have shaped me into the person I am today. As I continue to navigate this journey, I carry with me the invaluable lessons and experiences provided by the Osaide Foundation.
It is known that Engineering is the application of scientific and mathematical knowledge to solve real life problems, and I took this as a challenge. I have always wanted to face life with the maths and physics we studied in secondary school and engineering was the best fit. It gave me joy to know that I would be stepping into a position where I have the opportunity to contribute to infrastructure development in our society. Man deserves to live in a better environment and I am glad I can be part of that change.
How Has the Foundation Changed Your Life?
On the 14th of February 2020, I was highly honoured to be one of the recipients of the Osaide for Girls scholarship. That day opened a new chapter for me. The people I was opportuned to meet one on one dazzled me. After that day, I knew I had stepped into a new realm and I will make Osaide foundation proud. The cash I received was very helpful to my academics and other charges in my school. During the Covid-19 lockdown, I took up classes on Prota structure software for structural detailing of buildings with the new laptop given, currently all my softcopy handouts are on it, it is of immense help to me. After my tertiary education, I would like to further go for my masters degree, and if possible get a diploma in Architecture for better knowledge of the entire building industry. I aspire to become an outstanding practicing civil engineer and break grounds. I am greatly inspired by APWEN, seeing female engineers soar, gives me hope for my future
Thanks to Osaide foundation for assisting in making my education stress-free. I see a very bright future and I trust that God will guide me through every phase and decision.
